If you already have an operating system installed on this drive then you will need to commit to the changes that will take place which will overwrite of your old operating system. On agreeing, Windows will start to copy all of the new files over to your hard drive which should take no longer than 10 minutes. The machine will then automatically reboot itself and setup will continue.

On the next stage, you need to configure settings such as system locale so it knows which keyboard layout to use, adjust network settings so your home network functions and you will also need to enter the serial key of your Windows XP. From here, everything is now automatic and the process should take around 2 hours to complete but this depends on the processing speed of your computer.

Once installed, it may be necessary to install drivers for your display adaptor and Ethernet card etc. If you don’t have the drivers on disk then you can download them online or preferably use the Windows driver searching tool which will find and install them automatically for you.
